Herald – Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 13 October 2026

Who we are

Herald is a bingo number caller app for iOS and Android, operated by Norse Ventures LLC (“we”, “our”, “us”), based in Charleston, South Carolina, USA. This policy explains how information is handled when you use Herald.

Your game stays on your device

Herald does not require an account. It contains no advertising and no tracking, and the only usage information we collect ourselves is the anonymous statistics described below. This is the same on iOS and Android.

Herald stores these on your device only: the game in progress (which numbers have been called), your settings (game type, pattern, voice, and display choices), whether Herald Pro is unlocked, and a count of the days you opened the app, which decides when Herald asks for a rating. Uninstalling Herald deletes them.

Anonymous usage statistics

Herald sends a few anonymous events to PostHog, our analytics provider, so we can see whether people use the app and which parts of it. The events are: the app was opened, a game was started, a game was played for at least twenty calls, automatic calling was started, a Chromecast took the game, cards were printed or shared, the Herald Pro offer was shown, Unlock or Restore was tapped and how it ended, and the app asked the App Store or Google Play to show its rating dialog. A game’s events say only whether it was a 75-ball, 90-ball or custom game. Each event carries the app and system version, whether the app came from the store or a test build, and a random identifier created on your device.

The events never include the numbers called, your settings, your name, email, Apple or Google account, advertising identifier, or any text you enter. PostHog discards IP addresses for Herald and does not build a profile of you. The data is not used for advertising or shared with data brokers, and is kept for up to one year. Uninstalling Herald removes the random identifier.

The voice

Herald announces the numbers with recordings that are part of the app. Where it has no recording for your device’s language, your device’s own text-to-speech speaks instead. Nothing is sent anywhere to make the voice. Herald does not use the microphone and records nothing.

Printed cards

Bingo cards are made on your device as a PDF. They go only where you print or share them.

Herald Pro purchases

Herald Pro is a one-time in-app purchase. Apple or Google processes the payment, and RevenueCat helps Herald load the price, complete the purchase, and restore it later. To do this, RevenueCat receives your purchase history and an anonymous app identifier that is not linked to your name or email. We never receive your payment-card number.

Installs from our App Store ads (iOS)

We advertise Herald in App Store search results. When Herald for iOS first opens, it passes a short-lived token from Apple to RevenueCat. If you installed Herald after tapping one of our ads, RevenueCat uses the token to ask Apple which campaign, ad group, and keyword that ad belonged to, and keeps the answer with your anonymous app identifier, so we can see which ads lead to a purchase.

This uses Apple’s own ad attribution service. Herald does not ask for permission to track you, does not read your advertising identifier, and shows no ads. The information is not sold or shared with data brokers.

The list of our other apps

“More from Norse Ventures” in Herald’s settings downloads a list of our apps from norseventures.co. This is an ordinary web request that carries no identifiers. Our web host, Cloudflare, processes the IP address and browser details, as it does for any web request.

Tapping an app in the list opens the App Store or Google Play, with a tag saying the visit came from Herald.

Showing the game on a TV

With AirPlay, a cable, or another second screen, your device’s own system does the work, and nothing is sent to us.

The Cast button uses Google’s Cast SDK, on Android and on iPhone and iPad. The phone finds Cast devices on your local network and sends the game (the numbers called, the pattern, and your display settings) to the Chromecast. The Chromecast loads its page from norseventures.co, which is an ordinary web request; the game itself is not sent to our servers.

On Android, Google’s Cast SDK starts when the app starts. It automatically collects usage information for Google: Cast discovery and session events, information about the device, and information about the app. Google describes this information as anonymous, encrypted in transit, and not shared with third parties, and says that neither we nor you can switch the collection off or delete it. See Google’s description of what the Cast SDK collects and Google’s Privacy Policy.

On iPhone and iPad, Google’s Cast SDK does not run until you tap Cast. The first time, iOS asks whether Herald may find devices on your local network; Herald uses this only to find Cast devices, and you can change the answer in Settings. Once started, the SDK contacts Google and a public address-lookup service (ipify.org), and collects information for Google: diagnostic and performance data, an approximate location, a device identifier, and how its device list is used. Google declares this information as not linked to your identity and not used for tracking. Herald switches off the SDK’s analytics logging, which Google says is what the device identifier is collected for. If Herald closes while a game is still on a TV, the SDK starts once at the next launch to pick the game up again. See Google’s privacy details for the Cast SDK on iOS.

Email support

If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever information you choose to include so we can respond.

Sharing and sale of information

We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with the providers named above, for purchases, anonymous usage statistics and casting, when you direct us to share it, or when required by law.

Retention and your choices

Herald’s app data remains on your device until you change it, start a new game, or uninstall the app. Purchase records are retained by Apple or Google and by RevenueCat under their own policies. Support emails are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer your request and meet legal obligations.

You may contact us to request access to or deletion of personal information we hold about you.

Delete your Herald data

The game in progress, your settings, and the other items Herald stores live only on your device. Uninstalling Herald deletes them.

To delete the purchase data RevenueCat holds for Herald (your purchase history and anonymous app identifier), email support@norseventures.co with the subject “Delete my Herald data” and, if you can, the Google Play order number or App Store receipt email for your Herald Pro purchase. We delete the RevenueCat record within 30 days and confirm by email. Apple and Google keep their own purchase records under their policies, and Herald Pro can still be restored from them later.

The anonymous usage statistics are not tied to a person, so we cannot find yours to delete; uninstalling Herald removes the random identifier they carry.

The information that Google’s Cast SDK collects is held by Google. It is not tied to a person, and we cannot delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy as Herald changes. The effective date above shows when this version took effect.
